Register your road with LORD

If your road, or a road near you, is unsuitable for lorries, or lorries are using it illegally, then please email lord@problemlorries.org.uk

Please indicate why the road is a problem road and how serious the problem is. It will really help if you can identify the road number. Often, this is not on maps, but you can find it from the Surrey Interactive Map at:

If you're stuck and you just don't know how to find the road number then don't worry, email LORD and LORD will try to help.

If your parish is listed here but you don't recognise the road numbers (few people know the C and D road numbers even if they live on them!) then contact your Parish Clerk because your Parish Clerk likely provided the information or will know about LORD.

Problem Roads

So far, the following roads have been identified as problem roads by Surrey Parish Councils. If you know of a problem road that is not recorded, please let LORD know. If you have a Parish Council then let them know too. LORD has been in touch with all the Parish Councils in Surrey: 46 have stated that they have problem roads in their area. All roads have a number: Surrey has M, A, B, C and D roads. It is typically the C and D roads that have the problems with lorries.

Do you have a problem road?
Lorries sometimes have to use unsuitable roads for access to properties. Please only register a problem road if the problem is chronic rather than a one-off.
LORD will use the list of problem roads to work with Surrey County Council to identify solutions for that road. Those solutions may involve additional signage, placing restrictions on the road use, contacting particular hauliers making use the road, completing traffic surveys and so on.
What does LORD need to know?

If you want to register a problem road then please email us with the following information:

  • The name of the road and the village or parish in which the road lies, if you know the road number please provide this
  • Do you have any indication of how many lorries are using the road wrongly? (Occasional, 1 a day, 10 a day)?
  • What is the nature of the problem on this road? For example, is the road too narrow or the bends too sharp?

It will help LORD and Surrey County Council if you have previously contacted your Parish or Town Council (if you have one) and have the support of your Parish or Town Clerk. This will give added weight to having engineers look into the issue.
